I Got a Phishing Email That Almost Got Me - Here's How to Stay Safe

Got an email last month that looked exactly like Binance. "Suspicious login detected, click here to secure your account." The logo, the formatting, everything was perfect. Almost clicked the link.
Then I remembered: I set up an anti-phishing code. Checked the email - no code. Deleted immediately.
That's when I got serious about security settings.
The Stuff I Actually Use
Google Authenticator - No Brainer
I know typing codes is annoying, but this is the bare minimum. If someone gets your password, they still can't get in without your phone. Takes 2 minutes to set up.
One thing: SAVE THE BACKUP KEY. Write it down on paper, put it somewhere safe. If you lose your phone and don't have the backup, you're locked out. I learned this the hard way with another exchange.
The Anti-Phishing Code
This is the thing that saved me. You set a custom code (mine is something random like "bluemoon") and every legit Binance email includes it. No code? Fake email. Simple but effective.
Withdrawal Whitelist
I turned this on after reading about people getting hacked. Basically, you can only withdraw to addresses you've pre-approved. New address needs 24 hours before it's active.
Is it inconvenient sometimes? Yeah. But even if someone gets into my account, they can't withdraw to their own wallet.
What I Didn't Bother With
SMS 2FA - heard too many stories about SIM swap attacks. I just use Google Authenticator.
Common Scams I've Seen
"Binance Support" on Twitter/Telegram
Real Binance support will NEVER DM you first. Anyone claiming to be support who contacts you unsolicited is a scammer. 100% of the time.
Free BTC/ETH giveaways
If someone's promising free crypto for sending them crypto first, it's a scam. No exceptions.
Lookalike websites
binannce.com, b1nance.com, etc. Always check the URL. I just bookmark the real site and only use that.

- Strong unique password (stored in password manager)
- Email notifications for logins
Takes maybe 15 minutes to set up everything. Worth it to not lose your money.
