KYC Failed 3 Times Before I Got It Right - Here's What Works

The KYC Struggle Was Real

Alright, confession time: I failed Binance KYC three times before finally getting approved. At first I thought the system was broken, but turns out I was just doing it wrong.

My First Three Failures

Attempt 1: Took ID photo in my bedroom with overhead light. "Document not readable." Okay, fair.

Attempt 2: Went to the window for better light, but the sunlight caused glare on the plastic card. Failed again.

Attempt 3: This time the photo was good, but the face scan kept saying "face doesn't match." I think my webcam quality was just bad.

What Finally Worked

I switched to doing it on my phone instead of computer. The phone camera is way better than my laptop webcam.

For the ID photo, I put the card on a white sheet of paper on a table, stood by a window (but not in direct sunlight), and took the shot from directly above. The white background made the text super readable.

For the face scan, I made sure I was facing a light source (window during daytime) so my face was evenly lit. No glasses, no hat, hair pulled back.

Approved in like 15 minutes after that.

Why You Actually Need to Do This

Without KYC, you're basically limited in what you can do. Lower withdrawal limits, no P2P trading, can't use some features. If you plan to do anything serious on Binance, you need to get it done.

What Documents Work

I used my passport - seems to have the highest success rate. National ID cards work too, but make sure it's not expired (mine was, which was another issue I had to deal with).

Drivers license is accepted but seems pickier about photo quality.

Tips I Wish I Knew Earlier

1. Use your phone camera, not webcam - phone cameras are just better quality
2. White or light background - makes text stand out more
3. Diffused light is best - not direct sunlight, not overhead lamps
4. Make sure all four corners of ID are visible - they need to see the whole document
5. Name spelling matters - has to match exactly, including middle names or lack thereof

If You Keep Failing

After 3 failed attempts, you might get locked out temporarily. Don't panic. Wait 24 hours and try again, or contact support.

Some people have luck switching browsers or using incognito mode - worth a try if nothing else works.
